Donna

I was really, REALLY wanting to do a whole big montage of Donna Karan clothes from the 80's.....The Only problem is that for some reason the internet world doesn't want to contribute archival photos....DARN IT!!!! So forget reminiscing of the 80's and the awesome knits, shoulder pads, and long coats lets come down to reality, to the new collection from Ms. Karan for the Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection!! YEAH (kind of...I REALLY wanted to do the 80's!! )

ACCESSORIES!!!

Well Fall/Winter 2010/2011 has come and gone. Amazing now before you know it, it will be Spring 2011. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the Fall Winter 2010/2011 fashion shows enjoy:

I love this dress! It has the floral pattern of spring yet the muted color of fall. (Badgley Mischka)

The putting together of this dress with this fur jacket is awesome!! The jacket is kinda reminiscent of the 30's to me....and the dress is just so timeless...*golf clap* (Burberry Prorsum)

This jacket screams snow queen in a good way. I would totally wear it! The only problem is that here in Texas there is no reason to own such a thing seeing that we don't really have winter. Our winter consists of the temperature being in the 50s. (Burberry Prorsum)

These boots are totally 19th century and would look awesome with all black or something like that.....maybe some Vivienne Westwood...I don't know? (Givenchy)

Want them. (Bruno Frisoni)

These shoes I would wear all day if I could....no joke! (Louis Vuitton)

Christian Louboutin---the only ones I could get!!!!!

The Christian Louboutin shoes for this season are one word...AMAZING!!!!! I'm totally stressed out because I was looking for it seems like 3 hours trying to find photos to put up (cause I was thinking about doing a whole blog about Christian's) but I couldn't find any photos that would let me put them on the site. Sorry! So since I can't provide you with photos A) I might be able to provide them in a couple months once ALL the pictures have been released or B) go to Style.com (because its the best) and look at the Fall 2010 Accessory Report--its amazing!!!!

Classic Obsession...Duh!!

Ok so I was in my public speaking class the other day. As an opener we had to go around the room and state what our name was and something that we were obsessed with. Me being ohhhh about the only fashion student in the class came up with the most brilliant of all brilliant ideas....."Hi my names' Whitney and I'm obsessed with the 1950's clothing time period". (What else was I going to say? Chocolate was already taken!!!)

No really in all seriousness I AM COMPLETELY OBSESSED WITH THE 1950'S CLOTHING PERIOD AND PERIOD IN GENERAL....PERIOD. HA!!!! So here are some of my favorite people that I think have completely changed how many people feel about fashion and that have completely changed people's lives on how they perceive the 1950s time period....

My all time favorite singer and a major icon of the 20th century

Dean and Jerry, the greatest comedy team of all time (well at least I think so) :)

Ok so if you do NOT know this lady you definitely need too. This is the great Edith Head. Ms. Head was a costume designer who was EXTREMELY popular in the 50's designing for famous movies like: All about Eve, Sunset Boulevard, A Place in the Sun, Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, and the famous of all famous movies Breakfast at Tiffany's. Completely AMAZING!!!

Cyd Charisse. Well what can you say about her.....a very famous dancer who was in countless musical numbers of the 50s. If you ever watched "Singing in the Rain" she was the girl in Gene Kelly's dream wearing the green dress that had a thing for diamonds....oooo that sounds like me! :) Just kidding....

And last but not least the two most famous women of the 50s:

Marilyn Monroe:

Enough said about how she influenced fashion!!

Audrey Hepburn:

Audrey Hepburn had a major impact on the fashion world in the 50s because as we all know you HAD to have an hourglass figure in the 50s if you didn't you could not find ONE dress!! Ms. Hepburn changed that with her lanky girlish figure that had the fashion world and the world in general rocking and changing to a new beat!!! Heeyyy!!!!

Freaking OUT!!!!!

I am honestly and completely in utter LOVE with the Spring 2010 MIU MIU shoes!!!! I simply adore them even though my Dad thinks they're ugly. How can you not love them? Look at them:
They have everything that I love in a shoe: chunky high heel, platform, ankle strap, and awesome patterns and colors. They can go with numerous outfits and numerous occasions thought don't wear them out because honestly if I saw you wearing them I would steel them off your feet!!!! :)
I'm really upset, which is why the title of this blog is "Freaking OUT!!!!!" because in the Houston area there are no MIU MIU stores and at this moment in time the only store around that sells ONE DESIGN of the shoes is our resident and only Saks Fifth Avenue. Thank you Saks buyers for buying the shoe but no one sells the other numerous cute ones and I'm a little upset because I don't know how I can buy the shoes that were in the show! Do they even make them? If they do I WILL pay to get this shoe:

Its PINK and JEWELED!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok so I'm about to go contact everyone in the freaking planet that deals with MIU MIU even if I have to call Ms. Prada herself!!!! WISH ME LUCK!!!!

Whitney

thank you: lipstick diaries and obsessed with shoes.

Long Live McQueen!!!!

I think it is so funny because I'm trying to expand my mom's knowledge of the fashion industry and all of a sudden she comes home one day and tells me something I don't already know!! Monica, the singer, came out with a new song "Everything to Me". In this music video she has two really amazing outfits that were made in honor of Alexander McQueen.

The first is a dress that is somewhat similar to this one yet still totally different:

The second is a blouse that is also similar to this one yet more flowy:

Mr. Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld is considered, well wait let me rephrase that, the BEST designer of our time (well that's what I think). To me he is the last great classic designer. He was trained by Ms.Chanel HERSELF!!!!! The clothing that he designs is modern with classic influences. I'm not going to lie I love ALL clothing that has a timeless look that makes you think of Cary Grant, Doris Day, Audrey Hepburn and the other countless celebrities of the 1940's thru 1960's. One thing that people constantly forget is that Karl Lagerfeld designs not only for Chanel but for his own personal line. Here's some photos from his Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection:

Yellow Loafers

I have a friend in my Fashion Drawing class, Bryan. He said the most poetic thing in class that seriously changed how I felt about yellow (because as of now I seriously HATE yellow, I don't know why I just can't stand it even thought it is the color of sunshine). He said, "The world would be a better place if everyone wore yellow loafers." Could you imagine? Yellow loafers. So heres a little tid-bit of some of the best yellow shoes:

I think these are totally gorgeous I just don't know who they're by

I want these sooooo bad!!

Adorable!

Cute!!

Love them!

Want them!
